"Donald Trump's supporters were not arrested"- it was a press release issued by the interim government of Bangladesh which was published in some media. How ironic, the 10th November program was arranged to celebrate the victory of Mr. Donald Trump from where people were arrested. Are they not Donald Trump's supporters? !
Last fifteen years Awami League was in power in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Within these 15 years Mr. Donald Trump was president of the USA for 4 years. In his tenure, the government of Bangladesh did not face any sort of trouble in terms of foreign Policy from western side. But misfortunately, most of the time many negative impressions had been spread against Bangladesh and many development projects encountered challenges based on foreign loans. Cause of this perception had led Awami League people consider Mr. Trump as a well-wisher of Bangladesh. This fuelled their support to work seriously for his election to win as the president of the US. Moreover, when Awami League people observed that Anti-Awami League people were working against Mr. Trump, they felt even motivated to work seriously for his success. Additionally, Mr. Trump’s social media ( in-X) message mentioning Bangladesh in a context of chaos, where minorities and common people face mob attacks while law enforcement remains passive or even supportive, only to take part of the attackers, as they noticed unofficially to work against Sheikh Hasina’s people according to the instruction by their higher authority.
There are some painful back-ground to this situation by the law enforcers at the time of the “Quota'' movement which was really conspiracy to overthrow Sheikh Hasina’s government. It was disclosed by present Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus in New York while he was delivering a speech in the forum of “Clinton Foundation” that all of a sudden Sheikh Hasina did not fall down. It was a long history of pre-planned meticulously. He also introduced one of his assistants as a mastermind which means he (Dr.Yunus) was the main man to hatch a conspiracy to oust Sheikh Hasina's government. Most of the Bangladeshi people, specially Awami League supporters believe that Dr.Yunus inconnivance with the Biden administration had a big role against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina compelled to fly away to India to save her life. Dr. Younus’s close ties with Bill and Hillary Clinton, Obama and Biden. There are Rumors suggesting that Dr.Yunus donated $5 million to Hillary Clinton’s and the same donation in Kamala Harris's election campaign, which many Awami League supporters see as the evidence of this alliance.
For his victory, Awami League in Bangladesh took a program of celebrations, in contrast, the government, under Dr. Yunus’s influence with the support of Jamaat and BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party), who were supporters of “Kamala Harris” reportedly unhappy with Trump’s victory.Tried not to success this program.
In response to these celebrations, Awami League organized a gathering of 1000 people on November 10th at Zero Point, Dhaka, in front of Awami League central office. This was not welcomed by the government of Dr.Yunus and its allies, who deployed many thousands of law enforcement people from the day before and arrested more than 500 people from several hotels and relatives house in the night one day before who came from other districts. With the aim to prevent the success of celebration of the “Trump's Victory and Democracy Day.”
Law enforcement and alleged allies with terrorist groups responded with heavy- handed torturers. Despite these obstacles, over 2,000 supporters, including young women, gathered but they have been bitten brutally and torn the wear-clothes of many women and finally they have arrested about 1000 members of the Participants.
Now, we ask the conscience of national and international communities to recognize that the gathering was intended to celebrate Donald Trump’s victory, organized by the Awami League. Those arrested are indeed Awami League supporters as well as Mr. Donald Trump who came to show respect for Trump’s win.
Beyond this issue, it is important to note that Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is facing pressure to step down and a widespread wave of repression is underway, targeting citizens through terrorism and law enforcement agencies under intimidation tactics.
Media outlets find serious challenges to report on these other than the choice of government, as constant fear is imposed on the administration and judiciary, forcing them to operate under the influence of higher powers.
It is essential for global leaders to respond to the fascism, terrorism and lawlessness facing by 170 million people of Bangladesh.
